I'm Vanessa, a Melbourne based artist.
Creating abstract still life compositions that evoke a sense of nostalgia and joy.
Having studied design and art early on, I have created for many years, only discovering my deep passion for painting recently. I begin my artworks with sketches of nature, my house plants, mixed with my own found pottery and textiles. Overlaying all these objects and shapes to add layers and give depth to the artwork to create an almost abstract feel. My artworks Inspired by nature, interiors and the everyday.
Vanessa’s work uses an eclectic mix of found objects, textures and fabrics, to create compositions that are a toast to the everyday enjoyment of life.
Vanessa studied art and design but is mostly a self taught painter and has exhibited in group shows around Australia, and was recently a finalist in the Weswal Gallery 'Inty' Interior Art Prize and the Art to Art Unearthed Art Prize 2024. Vanessa was also a finalist in the Art to Art Unearthed Art Price in 2023, named Directors Choice winner at Aspire Gallery, 2022 and her work can be found at, Sequal Gallery, Geelong VIC and Aspire Gallery, Paddington QLD as well as a number of homewares stores both in NSW & Victoria.
