Australian Artist Sophie Le Couteur seeks to reflect on her surroundings; the landscapes, lives and habits that have left a mark on her. Collectors from France, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Canada, Mexico, The United States, New Zealand and Australia have become infatuated with Sophie’s works.
A mixed media artist, Sophie is inspired by yoga, the sea and minimalism. She explores the female form in her Yoga Drawings and Bather Babe prints. Her love of the sea and landscape surroundings is often explored in her abstract paintings. While her photography is an exploration of immediate surroundings and experimentation.
Sophie has a lifelong love of creativity. Her grandmother was a practicing artist and shared techniques with Sophie from a young age. She was also sent to private art classes on weekends. In 2011, she finished a Degree of Design at The University of Technology, Sydney.
“I use colour to stitch together the stories, layering with detail and symbolism to create emotion.”
By 2019, Sophie begun sharing her drawings and paintings online, and hasn’t looked back since. Art was the offer of an escape; much like her love of yoga, these passions provide her with a flow state.
“I love that people take their own meanings from my art. Once my pieces hit a new set of eyes, they continue to take on new meanings.”
