Hello I am Sally. All my life I have been painting and drawing. I learned the visual language from my Dad, Raymond Bambrick, a landscape and portrait painter. I went to Teachers College and Art School and became a P-12 art teacher. UK and Europe beckoned . I took courses at St Martins and Chelsea Art Schools and worked as Charles Blackman's studio assistant. As well as selling my paintings I picked grapes in France, was an au pair in Switzerland, worked in a London pub and did marketing for Australia House.
Back in Australia with degrees in Arts and Education from University of Qld, I combined my practice as an artist with teaching in Victorian and Qld schools. I lectured in Art and Design at QUT and tutored gifted children at the Qld Art Gallery. I have continued to exhibit my work and have won awards including James Hardy prize for Drawing, Caltex award for Landscape and Stanthorpe Heritage for Painting. My paintings can be found in private, corporate and regional gallery collections in Europe , Australia and USA.
I've been truly privileged to make a living in the Arts, doing the things I am passionate about- teaching about and creating contemporary art works. Blessed with a wonderful husband and two beautiful children we explored remote and wild places. The endless awesome patterns of this ancient land and the remnants of past lives have been the inspiration for many of my paintings, drawings and prints.
Having enjoyed a career in Art and Education I now continue to share the joy of creative activity with classes in my studios on the Sunshine Coast and in Canberra where I am currently residing.
Thank you for visiting my profile. I hope you enjoy these works.
