Ryan Taylor Kilbourn is a passionate, contemporary artist based in Canberra, Australia. He loves portraying the form of a subject as an emotive visual by using rough brush strokes and colour, leaving the viewer to create their own feeling and interpretation of the final piece. He appreciates art for the release in emotions it can offer, while simultaneously offering a work of art of sentimental value to the receiver of his paintings. Ryan’s focus is on acrylic as a medium, as he finds it a fast method, which allows him little time to contemplate or ponder. He prefers to paint what he sees and feels and will consider variations to the initial draft, once it’s set out on canvas. He has a passion for painting animals, more specifically pets, based on his love for his own companion and friend, Mopsy, but also likes to venture into different themes at times. By challenging himself through his paintings, Ryan is able to ensure the emphasis of the subject is full of emotion, subsequently providing his collectors with an artwork that instils not only a memorable piece, but often a sentimental reproduction of something they already cherish.
