Rosa was born in Dar Es Salam‚ Tanzania of Mauritian origin. She spent her early childhood in Dar es Salam and was raised in Mauritius‚ part of the then British Commonwealth‚ till at age 19 her family moved to Australia.Rosa's artwork is heavily influenced by her childhood in East Africa. The colour‚ activity and vibrancy of the local markets‚ the fishing dhows returning at sunset with the days catch and the starkness of the African bush inspires her to capture snapshots of everyday activity. Rosa's interaction with the Australian landscape has over time resulted in a confluence of her African childhood influences being translated within an indigenous Australian context. Rosa works with pencil‚ acrylic and oils as well as having a period exploring the potential and complexity of working with ceramic and porcelain. To Rosa her art is an inherent expression of her relationship with the natural world‚ a representation of her inspiration and appreciation of her environment.
