Phil Rolton (b.1938) is a professional Fine Art painter and has been living for over the last 40 years on the Sunshine Coast and now based in Noosa. He studied Fine Art at East Sydney and Melbourne Gallery Schools under the tuition of John Brack as well as life drawing classes with renowned Australian Artist, Jon Molvig who gave him the inspiration and critique to help him challenge his artistic ability. He works in different mediums such as pen & wash, acrylic and charcoal and ink. Presently working in the genre of photo-realism art, but with many years as an abstract painter.
Phil has had many solo and joint exhibitions in Australia and New Zealand over the years whilst being the recipient of the Gympie Art Prize, Caloundra Local Artists Prize & Noosa Taste of Art Prize as well finalist in the Lynne McCrea Drawing Prize and the Sunshine Coast Art Prize. Phil recently held his 2018 exhibition “Paris - Noosa: Art, Environment & Realism” at the Noosa Regional Gallery, a combination of photorealism paintings from his time in Paris and Noosa. His works and commissions have been purchased by Galleries, Local Governments, Corporate Businesses and collectors throughout Australia, New Zealand & Europe.
