Hi I am Pamela Woods (also known as 'classbunny.' ) I'm pretty new to Blue thumb and am thrilled to have already sold some of my recent fish paintings. It's so rewarding to realise people like my work and it is spurring me on to experiment and keep creating.
I have worked as a print illustrator, film maker and teacher. Most recently I have exhibited independently with a solo show of my paintings at the 2024 Barraba Arts Festival in NSW.
I am a 3 time champion of Art Battle - an international live painting competition. In November 2024 I became the first Australian champion and will be representing Australia in the world championships in Macau in a year's time. I will be painting in front of a live audience of around 300 people who vote to decide the winner. Over 50 countries and cities around the world take part in Art Battle and the competition is fierce but fun. It has been described as Iron Chef but with brushes instead of pans.
I also believe in art for all, and teach classes in water colour and art with my business 'classbunny.' Teaching helps me to pursue new techniques and ideas and hone my skills. It also gets me out of the solitary studio and sharing art with people. I have now taught thousands of people and regularly hold sessions in the beautiful Blue Mountains.
My work is colourful and playful. I'm well known on the Sydney 'Live' painting scene appearing at various venues. The last year has seen me painting sardines and fish. I am a little obsessed. I also paint pop art style commissioned portraits. I'm hugely influenced by and admire British pop artists from the 60's and 70's such as David Hockney, Dougie Field and Peter Blake as well as Australian pop artists such as Martin Sharp and Peter Kingston. Having worked as a print illustrator, my work is graphic and illustrative in style. I enjoy bold colour combinations and clean lines, yet I still like to see the hand of the artist in the work, the brush strokes and small imperfections.
Thank you so much for visiting my page and I hope, liking my work.
