Monique Luzza AKA Lutz, is a Melbourne based Artist and Illustrator with a passion for exploring and experimenting with new mediums, styles and unique layouts to create interesting and usually very detailed works that draw in the viewer’s attention. Upon completing a Diploma in Graphic Design in 2011, she pursued working as a Graphic Artist while also taking on small Illustrations jobs, which appealed more to her creative side.
In 2015 she started exploring fine art drawing using the very unforgiving medium of ballpoint pen, often creating large and highly detailed drawings in a very slow process of layering directional pen marks. As a hobbyist photographer she often draws from her own photographs and found objects from different explored environments with nature, decay, skulls, bones, abandoned buildings and her much loved local music scene often being subject matters of interest.
In 2019 Monique pursued furthering her study of Illustration and Fine Art in both traditional and digital mediums. Slightly inspired by Vanitas works, a growing fascination with botanical nature and often exploring various parks and gardens for inspiration, she has spent the last year exploring and experimenting with new mediums, styles, techniques and applications such as printing with found leaves and also using oil paints for the first time. Her works try to find the relationship between all these elements and explore the beauty and detail of things often overlooked.
