This original abstract expressionist oil painting was inspired by a recent frustration with the ever present noise in todays society and the pressure and work required to push through it.
This work began as an abundance of colour study, but during renovations, school holidays and general noise of life this work naturally changed to reflect the exhaustion I have, and continue to feel, to be seen, heard or make any difference, constantly pushing against other obstacles, flattened by the noise of social media, home work, phone calls, emails, notifications, people demanding immediate attention.
Permanent rose was the primary colour chosen here, a colour I personally find fun, vibrant and joyful. However, it is fighting against other bright colours, cobolt blue, lemon yellow, emerald green, trying to find space, and ultimately flattened with the other colours with wash after wash of titanium white.
However, like in life there are small victories, glimpses of wins, break throughs where we see that beautiful permanent rose, brighter and clearer above the noise.
This is the first of a limited series I have begun on white noise.
