An ocean apart, explores the delicate balance between contrasting realms. The composition is divided into three primary sections: a central band of vibrant, vertical textures and colours, bordered by expansive neutral spaces above and below. The central band features muted pastels, soft yellows, blues, and earthy tones, forming an abstract landscape-like texture with hints of movement and depth. The upper and lower sections, in contrast, are minimal, featuring faint, subtle marks that hint at distant or undefined forms.
An ocean part reflects the experience of being caught between two contrasting environments, states of being, or perspectives. The central band symbolises the liminal space, a transitional zone where worlds blend, collide, and harmonise. I wanted to use this stark contrast to evoke themes of duality: presence and absence, movement and stillness, chaos, and peace. This piece invites the viewer to reflect on their own "in-between" moments, where life feels both grounded and unbounded.
