"South Beach Sundays" is inspired by the beachfront of the luxurious SLS Hotel in South Beach, Miami. The hotel's signature pink & white umbrellas and pink sun lounges scattered across the beachfront offer guests an enviable spot to soak up the sun, in the most 'instagram worthy' surroundings. The gold coast of the USA, this famous Florida playground arouses the senses with a palette of sun soaked pastels, art deco architecture, white sandy beaches and turquoise waters.
Within the painting, the natural elements such as the sand and tree-line are highly textural to create contrast against the man made elements such as the umbrellas, sun lounges and buildings. The sand is highly textured with a thick application of an impasto acrylic and resin sand mix, offering that extra tactile element that brings the painting to life.
Fascinated by texture and colour, Kate is a self-taught Australian artist working across Resin and Acrylic mediums to produce offerings of painterly and abstract escapism. Kate’s vibrant acrylic works explore the notion of daydreams, with intent to transport minds seeking escape from the monotony of everyday life. Kate’s technique presents a textural dance between controlled intentional brush strokes and the free form manipulation of a palette knife.
