This is a painting has a long history, and many layers. If you look closely, you can see the textures of previous paintings underneath. I believe this adds interest to a painting, as do wrinkles on the face of an older person. My artistic journey has been a long one, and I have picked up many techniques and bits and pieces that Iโve learned from observing and studying other artists. Picasso, Paul Klee and Laurel Burch have influenced me, but I love and admire many artists and styles, and use whatever I please to create my paintings, like a cook uses many ingredients to make a dish.
Inspiration also comes from surrealism, decorative art, naive art, even primitive art. The best thing about Acrylics is you can always paint over mistakes, so, making mistakes is part of my creative process. I am a great admirer of aboriginal art, and this painting pays homage to Aboriginal art, but also respectful of their culture, and mindful of not trying to copy their art, and be true to myself and where I come from.
Picasso was greatly influenced by African art, and Iโm a great admirer of primitive art as well and perhaps emulating or channeling aboriginal art and giving it my own interpretation.
This Artwork has a glossy varnish, and sides are painted black. Itโs ready to hang, and does not require framing.
