Julia Nadis was born in 1986 and grew up in Wollongong, Australia. A self taught artist, Julia began painting at the age of sixteen. Her greatest source of inspiration was her Golden Retriever whom she adored. Her love for animals stemmed from her grandmother who cared for many pets over the years. From a young age, Julia had a great appreciation for the simplicity of the lives of animals. Unlike human beings, animals do not worry about the past or ponder over the future. They always live in the moment.
As Julia's work progressed, her focus shifted to the symbolic nature of wildlife. She uses colour, patterns and objects that correspond with the animal's behavioural traits. In this way, she makes subtle statements about society and human behaviour. This is reflected in the titles of her work. โJulia also enjoys painting pet portraits which comprises most of her commissioned work.
Juliaโs preferred medium is premium acrylic paints on hardwood panels. She prefers hardwood for its durability and smooth surface. The smooth surface enables her to achieve greater detail in her work. This is important for Julia as she has an obsession with hyperrealism. Her greatest goal is to create work so lifelike, the detail surpasses that of a photograph.
All paintings are created to serve two purposes: to make her audience smile and to grow in value. Julia uses premium materials to ensure that each painting will last forever. It is important for her to not only create work that her customers love, but assets that appreciate in value. Julia aspires to create timeless paintings that brightens the walls of many homes. She hopes that her work serves as a happy distraction from the daily stressors of life.
