This lovely girl is called Doris and she reminds me of the chickens I inherited when I bought a house. Until then I thought birds didn't have personality but I was definitely wrong. They all had their individual characteristics and I enjoyed coming home to find the chooks at the back door with the dog and cats.

ARTIST
Johanna was born in 1967 in Amsterdam and left behind a family of accomplished artists when she moved to Australia with her family at an early age. Johanna studying under some well-known accomplished artists and says she takes every opportunity to further develop her skills and knowledge of the arts.
Johanna is known for both her realistic interpretations of her wildlife paintings and her serene still life.
Her paintings of birds and animals beautifully capture the individual characteristics of her subjects. Johanna said she loves seeing the reaction of the viewer when they look at her paintings as many say they experience feels of connection, joy, comfort, compassion, and intrigue.
Johanna’s serene still life paintings have a sense of calm and simplicity with their muted/limited colour palette and uncluttered composition. Johanna states that her still life paintings are inspired by the works of the old Dutch Masters, incorporating many of the techniques used by the old masters including using a limited pallet, under-paintings, and layers of glazes to evoke a sense of calm and depth to her paintings.
Johanna’s paintings have become well regarded and collectible through both her online presence and local endeavors. Johanna’s success as an artist continues to grow, both locally and in the international art market, whether it be by requests to feature in art magazines, solo exhibitions, art fairs, participation in Open Studios, or her ever-increasing online sales.
