Jason Romer is a Brisbane based native who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Queensland College of Art, Australia’s oldest art institution. After a long immersion in the online and creative services industry Jason has returned to his first love – drawing, and most recently charcoal as a means of contemporary self-expression. His work ranges from figurative drawing through to portraiture and urban landscapes.
The principle theme of Jason’s work is in capturing age, and youth in age, urban culture, in a fast flowing and expressive manner. His interests lay in exposing the underlying child in its different guises, that part of all of us that recedes with age.
His figurative works are fast and minimal using charcoal to intimate form and space.
Jason is currently working on a portrait series with number of commissions in the pipeline.
