This particular composition is part of a larger body of work that explores the interplay between the abstract and the representational. By isolating the bandana and pairing it with a solid color background, I aim to challenge the viewer's perceptions and invite them to consider the role of objects, color and form in creating meaning. Ultimately, I hope to encourage a deeper engagement with the world around us and the ways that seemingly ordinary objects can hold significance, beauty and different meanings. Is the bandana a mask, part of a uniform tying the wearer to a group or a simple ornament?
The work comes framed with a locally made frame which is left unstained so you can stain to match your decor or leave unstained if you wish.
This work will be on display at Bluethumb's Melbourne Gallery for the exhibition 'Rising Realism' from April 12th.
