Heelap is a painting that evolved over time. Initially inspired by a streetscape, I spent many hours layering and adjusting the composition. This is typical of the process I use in all of my Reform series, where I use bold linear shapes and colours to create a sense of calm, balance, and interest.
Heelap has been continued over onto the sides which adds another dimension to the artwork, and also means it does not need to be framed. I have signed the painting and finished it off with several layers of matte varnish coat to highlight the colours, and to protect the painting.
Heelap has been painted with high quality pigment rich acrylic paints on custom made artist-grade 90cm x 120cm Victorian Ash stretchers on Cotton/polyester canvas. The above photos present Heelap in home settings, though it would work equally well in an office environment.
