Fute is another artwork in the Liminal series. The Liminal series draws on the human experience and depicts thoughts feelings and emotions while using a minimalist technique.
Fute is an analogy of the leopard who cannot change his spots. Despite attempting to cover the red energy with a pure white, the cover/mask begins to slip, revealing the true (red) self.
As with other pieces in the Liminal series, the true scale of the subject matter is left unanswered. Through the design and composition, the painting has a calming almost familiar feel to it.
Fute's rich details have been continued over onto the sides of the canvas which means it can be hung either framed or unframed. I have subtly signed the painting on the front and finished it off with several layers of matte varnish to highlight the colours, and protect the painting.
I use matte varnish throughout the Luminal series as I believe it adds to the gentle and calming nature of the artworks'.
Fute has been painted with high-quality pigment-rich acrylic paints on artist-grade 90cm x 120cm pine stretchers on 380g Italian cotton canvas. The above photos present Fute in home settings, though it would work equally well in an office environment.
