Faraday is an architecturally inspired abstract artwork and forms part of my Reform series. In composing paintings in the series I use a combination of colourfiled, minimalist, and cubist elements. The style used in Faraday is a continuation of myhomage and admiration for abstract expressionists such as Diebenkorn, Mondrian, Rothko, etc.
I really enjoy painting in this style, as it feels a bit like creating a painting as one would put a jigsaw puzzle together. Though my frame of reference is purely my recollection of a building or streetscape. I do of course use creative and artistic license to enhance of deviate from the original subject matter. My goal is always to create the right balance in my paintings, and I believe I have achieved that with Faraday.
The artwork has been continued over the sides of the canvas which means it can remain without a frame. The painting has been finished off with several layers of matte finish, which creates a gentle and subdued finish. The matte finish really suits this style of artwork, as well as protecting from UV rays and dust.
I have signed the front of the artwork and it is ready to hang.
Note the images showing the painting mounted on the wall are for illustration purposes only. The correct measurements are provided below. A handy way of determining just how this sized painting will work in your space is to use blue tack dots or removable masking tape on your wall to plot out the border of the painting. This method gives you a realistic impression of how the painting will fit on your wall.
