Subtly stormy, this green-blue landscape is all about country living - a vast view of trees and paddocks, with a gorgeously grey/blue sky. When driving south to Melbourne on the Hume Hwy from our home near Yea, the views of paddocks and farms stretch out across vast valleys. The views near the highway turnoffs to towns like Wallan, Clonbinane and Beveridge are particularly beautiful, and I often sketch the view from the car as my husband drives.
This painting was created with only a handful of colours, many layers of pigment (some of which are translucent to give a beautiful soft effect), and loads of affection for the Victorian countryside. You might observe moody dramatic darks, soft pale greens and greys, and lovely variations of colour and tone in between.
It would look sensational framed, however this is not absolutely necessary as the painting is ready to hang, right out of the box. The edges are painted dark green-blue similar to the dark shades of the artwork.
I have included some 'In situ' photos, which help us imagine art in our home. Feel free to reach out with pictures of your own space and I can virtually hang the painting for you. In situ photos provided here were created using various apps and may not be perfectly to scale.
Best,
