I am a 21 year old artist. Storyteller. Wildflower woman. Observer. Daughter. Sister. Wildfire.
Although I have been creative since a young age, I began painting recently; in the remote desert landscapes of Northern Western Australia. Since this time Ive painted almost every day. developing my love of observing and playing with natures creation through my brushstroke. Currently, I am living in South Western Australia. Amongst the coastline and native forests that raised me; where wildflowers, the changing light, seasons and scents, are my constant source of inspiration.
My creative process is deeply entwined with becoming closer; physically and emotionally to nature. My style of work flows from detailed botanical realism to abstract landscape. I enjoy developing an intimate relationship with the subject that I paint; wildflowers. I am throughly obsessed with the entire process of collecting the flowers; immersing myself in the smell, sound and light of the land they grew from…and then sitting down to observe and represent their uniqueness on the canvas. Through painting I both display and deepen my reverence, connection, and knowledge of Australia’s natives plants. I am particularly fond of the way flowers reveal more to me about what it means to be a woman. To be soft yet strong. Delicate yet hardy. Persevering yet so impermanent. Playful yet determined. Wildflower woman.
