This artwork is of the original Copper Mine Hotel in Coopers creek, near Walhalla in Gippsland victoria. The original building burnt down long ago and has been replaced with a new building now. I was lucky enough to get some photos of the original building shortly before it burnt down. This was the inspiration for my work after i recently revisited the site again. It is painted in sepia tones of browns and yellows to reflect the old feeling of the scene. It is framed in a rustic frame to match with the old time feeling also.
Elena Dickman 36 artworks | 5 Sold Follow Contact Elena I have been creating art since a very early age. I was always encouraged to create by my mum who was a painter and a potter . I spent 20 years as a studio potter. I have been painting seriously since giving up pottery ten years ago. I love pastels and at the moment I am concentrating on acrylic artworks on stretched canvases. I like the brightness and quick drying of acrylic paints. I get most of my inspiration for my paintings from what is around me. I am very lucky to live in the very beautiful area of East Gippsland in Victoria. I love the scenery we have here and love to get out in it and explore it. We have everything around us here from lakes , rivers , mountains. I also love animals and get a lot of inspiration from them. i am lucky enough to own some beautiful gypsy cob horses which we used to breed. Horsed are featured in alot of my work. I never run out of inspiration for my next painting, I just have to look out the door.
