I've been painting on and off for about 10 years but now finally starting to become more focused. Experimented with drawing classes at the Julian Ashton school in Sydney and some basic composition classes to find my feet and now enjoy the freedom of experimenting and exploring mostly with acrylics.
I think of my style as mostly abstract symbolism with a bit of minimalist pop culture as well. I particularly love to create ideas around shapes and figures that are left open to interpretation for the observer, a perspective that may vary the more you view a piece. It's about the natural organic, playful, flowing lines of life, the dynamic interplay of relationships and engaging the full kaleidoscope of emotions. It's about metaphors, layered perceptions, symmetry, asymmetry, elasticity, resilience, challenge and mystery.
The picture within a picture technique I'm experimenting with at the moment invites the viewer to look through the windows and picture the full story, the landscape and the meaning beyond which can almost create a three dimensional experience.
