Inspired by Brett Whiteley

Brett Whiteley is one of the most influential painters to ever come out of Australia. You'll find works of his in every major gallery all over the country, including the current exhibition - drawing is everything - running in the Art Gallery of NSW. One of the artists of the Chelsea Hotel in New York during the 1960s, Brett was surrounded by artists and musicians, such as Janis Joplin. Having succumbed to substance addictions, Brett died in 1992. . Brett's art is a national treasure. Having won the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman prizes twice each, it's no surprise his work has become so influential today. Enjoy our selection of living artists inspired by the Australian great.
