Frame Within a Frame

Frame within a frame composition uses elements in the foreground or lighting to draw the viewer in towards the subject. Much like a lamp illuminates a spot, the scene in these works takes shape from light and shadow, doorways, windows and other outlines. This technique gives the effect of stumbling across a rare private moment of beauty, a small secret between the viewer and the creator.
