Charlotte is a 2D abstract mixed media artist living and working on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia.
Her abstract paintings unfold through curiosity, inquiry and a liminal approach to her mixed media work. Collage, printmaking, painting and drawing are integral parts of her working process and each painting is a unique fusion of different materials and techniques. There are no pre-destined outcomes for what a finished piece might look like, instead she balances the accidental and the unexpected with decision making and response, drawing on her knowledge and understanding of shape, colour and technique to resolve each piece. Her creative practice is driven by desire to capture moments of chance encounter with emerging visual elements and materials.
Global wanderings have infused her bold and colourful visual aesthetic with a love of rich colours; texture and ornament; structures and forms; and the contrast between natural and constructed environments.
Diversity of the human experience and unique personal narratives have always held a particular resonance for her and these thoughts are never far from her mind as she paints.
Charlotte has been shortlisted for various art prizes and awards, including the Du Reitz Art Awards (Gympie Regional Gallery - 2022, 2023) Local Artists Local Content (Caloundra Regional Gallery - 2022, 2023) Art2Life International Juried Art Award (2022) Queensland Regional Art Awards (2012) and participates regularly in local group exhibitions at galleries and venues on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and in Melbourne, including the annual Noosa Open Studios Art Trail. Her work is held in private collections in Australia, the UK and the USA and in the Gold Coast Public Hospital Art Collection.
