When painting animals, it’s difficult to not form some sort of connection with the piece. That’s something I love about painting portraits: getting to step back from the easel and see the accumulation of dozens of hours, thousands of brush strokes and many tubes of paint embodied; a real creature, a soul on the canvas.
I created this artwork with oil paint on stretched cotton canvas measuring 18x24x1.5 inches.
