Bridget is an Art & Design Practitioner working with Creative Spaces at River Studios.
Creative Spaces is a program of the ‘City of Melbourne’ Creative City branch.
Bridget fell in love with painting at high school largely influenced by her teacher Margaret Hudson-Ware. She studied a Visual Communications Degree in New Zealand over 20 years ago and had worked as a graphic designer since. With an intention to go back to painting, this dream became a reality 4 years ago.
Her oil painting is inspired largely by memories throughout her life beside the sea.
'I like to capture and portray a sense of playfullness with my works. This year I am focussing on the tide or the place where sea meets the land. The movement of water and brushwork with oils allows me to produce energetic pieces with a lot of movement and feeling.
I am inspired by nature and hope to keep making large scale pieces. My next piece will be an entry for the Glover Art Prize.'
