Born in Nhulunbuy, N.T Australia, artist Asher Stenning currently lives and works in the South West of W.A, where he makes mixed media artworks and paintings.

By applying abstraction, Stenning creates intense personal moments by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles. His paintings often don’t reference recognisable forms, the results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.

Constantly in search of new methods and media, he focuses primarily on textured painted works and ‘upcycling’ found objects and materials, incorporating them into more sculptural pieces and giving them new life. Though acrylics and aerosols are his favorite medium, he also likes to extend to oils, chalk, art-liners and charcoal and incorporate sands, pigment, different papers and texture pastes.
Stenning’s textured works offer different forms of interaction to the observer and are often about expressing emotions and engaging the senses through works that have life, pulse and breathe
