This artwork is part of a collection that is inspired by areal views of the Australian landscape. By using a pallet knife, thick layers of paint are shaped to mimic the patterns of water, sand and rocks.
Some areas in these paintings are also mixed with sand to create rough textures, while smother textures are achieved with paint and a thickener.
The colours in each piece are chosen specifically for two purposes. The white sections allow the patterns to stand out, while the warm colours imitate the rural landscapes of Australia.
Although the artworks may seem understated from a distance, when you look closer, you see all the intricate details. You may even be tempted to touch the smooth ripples or the rough surfaces! The pieces are meant to be interactive and responsive to the space.
