Built almost a century ago, Australia’s ocean pools were originally created to offer swimming places safe from ocean wildlife, currents and waves to locals.
Today, those seaside rockpools not only offer public swimming facilities, they are also places where people exercise at first light, friends or strangers meet during lunch break, kids play after school and locals relax on the weekend. They play a big role in the community’s daily life throughout the year.
New South Wales is the home of almost 60 ocean pools. My Rockpool collection captures the most photogenic ones to my eyes.
This is Ourie pool - a magic, wild and hidden ocean pool located in the South of Werri beach, in NSW.
The photograph can be framed with a 5cm-wide white mounting mat and a 2cm-wide Tasmanian oak wood frame (please contact me if interested).
