An award winning, multi-disciplinary artist, Angeline's work can be described as eclectic. Her art spans several genre, with a special interest in portraiture, still life and large-scale abstracts. She paints in every scale, from the petite to the largest of works, producing medium-sized pieces within a few days. Angeline is a full-time artist, with a home studio that caters to all her requirements.
She explains her art practice:
"That old saying about art imitating life is not quite right, for me. A work of art has a life of its own, expressing itself as a unique entity. There's a spirit in each piece. I think art collectors who fall in love with a particular piece are connecting with it in a very spiritual way. They often tell me: "I just had to have it". They can't explain the connection. It's just there. Art is life in itself and it's that life force that resonates with us so strongly.
So, when is comes to choosing a subject for any given work, I'm often "led" by a muse that just appears on the surface, or haunts my imagination for a while until I give in and paint it. I'm particularly drawn to the female form, birds and ginger jars. You might laugh at that, but there's a connection there, if you think about it a little longer. There is for me, anyway.
Then there are those quirky pieces, often abstracts, that link directly to emotions. If I'm struggling to express something deep, an abstract will often follow on from that. We are all comprised of several layers, and each one needs expression. It's so important to me that I remain open to expressing all the layers, because they have all found resonance with others. At a solo exhibition some years ago, I watched a collector looking closely at an abstract for about half an hour. I admit to feeling both joy and trepidation at the time. When she purchased the piece, I confessed to her that I had considered not showing that piece. I didn't think anyone would understand it. She smiled and nodded her head. Apparently, not many people understand her, either. "
A life-long creative, Angeline has had her share of success. She has collectors throughout Australia, Europe, England, USA and Canada. She is currently accepting commissions as her creative schedule permits.
Angeline is a member of the East Wimmera Art Collective.
