This South Australian landscape painter is a biological scientist who records the fast disappearing natural aspects found in nature in the remote regions. He is talented painter who combines graphic and impressionistic approaches to his paintings of the outback that he has visited since arriving in Australia.
Born in Canada, Andrew came to Australia in 1974. The contrast of colours, textures and light in the Australian landscape are strongly different than his homeland He uses textured foliage and sharp shadows to capture the harsh vibrance of this landscape. He has developed a versatility of palettes which keeps his paintings fresh and lively.
My comments:
I am a self-taught artist, who started painting in the 1980βs, and I have kept on learning and practicing ever since. Before my retirement, I had made my living as a science and photography lecturer at several universities. Now, I have all the time in the world for my art. Over the last couple of decades, science drawing and painting has always been an important part of my life.
